Our top Havelock vacation rental tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Havelock vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best vacation home:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Front With Ocean Views has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular Havelock destination you love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
