- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
