Tricks and tips to get the best Havelock vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean Reef 15-B2, Almost Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Havelock beach you are crazy about, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. message the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
