Our top Vacation rental tips:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summer is high season in Beaufort. To get the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Seaside Cottage, Soundfront House in Beaufort, NC has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Havelock attraction you love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
