Tips to get the best Havelock vacation property experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. SeaSpray 241 Located in an Oceanfront Complex Great Ocean Views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
