Rental booking tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sound Of The Sea East 125, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

During your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
