Our top Rental booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To get the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Havelock attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking the rightvacation home:
- To start, have your family decide on the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Spectacular views from this 2nd Row West side Duplex - New for 2025 Shared Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If not, call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. text the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
