Booking the best Havelock rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. To find the best value, shift your family's Havelock vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick the best Havelock rental home:

  • Start by having your group agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Coastal home near the ocean with covered porches & W/D has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
