Finding the best vacation property experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. The Pinnacle - OCEANFRONT Home. Amazing Views, Pool, Hot Tub, 2 Kitchens,\nDeck has 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
