Getting the best Havelock vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the best vacation rental in the Havelock area:
- To start, have your family agree to dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Third-Floor Ocean-View Condo Overlooking Courtyard w\/Private Balcony, Free WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Havelock destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
