Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Havelock restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the best vacation home in Emerald Isle:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Tip'Sea Turtle, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your group.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
