Atlantic Beach just made #16 in the list of Top 100 Beaches in the United States, beating out even beaches in Hawaii! Truly a hidden gem, as this part of the island doesn't have public access, beyond a few cars, so it's just folks staying right there.

My favorite spots here are the broad with outdoor areas, including dining, humongous sectional couches, and fire table to savor as the sun goes down. I appreciate that I can hear the waves crash from here.

Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a Havelock rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, shift your family's Havelock trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have deals for local shops and restaurants.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Havelock rental home:

  • Start by having your group agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Barefoot Beach: Spectacular Family Beach Retreat! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your contract.
  • If there's a particular Havelock destination you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
