Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect rental home in the Havelock area:
- First, have your family agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Beachfront get away has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Havelock destination you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
