Tips to get the best rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick a perfect Havelock rental home:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Best View On The Beach! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
