Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Havelock vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the best vacation rental:
- First, have your family agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. East Lodge - Group Friendly!! Free Wifi and Cable TV included has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Havelock destination you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
