Rental property booking tips:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective.
