Our top Vacation rental tips:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Stress Less, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If not, call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a specific Havelock beach you crave, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
