Tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- To find the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing and booking the right Havelock rental:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Pebble Beach F-208, Oceanside Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
