Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Southwinds A9 Oceanfront Complex Direct Oceanfront has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
